The South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) is challenging the government’s decision to allow ENI South Africa and Sasol to explore for oil and gas off the KwaZulu Natal coastline.

SDCEA filed a review application in the Pretoria High Court last week. It wants the court to revisit the decision by the Deputy Director General: Mining, Minerals and Energy, to grant the authorisation.

It also wants the court to review the rejection of the appeal.
