Settlement Reached to Protect African Penguins

A historic settlement agreement has been reached in principle between the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), the small pelagic fishing sector, and conservation organisations, being BirdLife South Africa and the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB). This agreement establishes critical island closures to protect African Penguin populations.
