Namibia is soon to undergo its first Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) re-assessment of its hake trawl and longline fishery. Its’ hake TAC has been cut by 14000 mt for 2025 and there is mention of possible future reduction to find balance with MSY. In contrast, South Africa has not reduced its TAC for hake. Is care for the resource, also MSC-certified, less?
