Images such as this one are becoming more commonplace as severe weather causes flooding and storm damage across southern Africa.
Reliable quality data is fundamental to predicting severe weather events, this week helped by the first of Europe’s most advanced weather satellite which has become fully operational. It will provide data which will also be central to the EU-funded Space for Early Warnings in Africa project, implemented with the African Union Commission.
