The rehabilitation of South Africa’s ports has been stepped up and Transnet National Ports Authority has indicated it needs more money. It also needs port users to be confident in the services it offers, and it is for this reason, the Ports Regulator has taken a prudent approach to tariff increases for 2025/26. Instead, the Regulator is more in favour of incentivising investment, managerial and operational behaviour that will lead to efficient ports.
