African Penguin tourism is valued to be between R613 million to R2.7 billion annually, according to a recently published report from Anchor Environmental Consultants and commissioned by the Endangered Wildlife Trust. Given the widespread reaction to the news that these birds now appear on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, the daring question has to be asked if this is really about conservation or is it about money.
