A University of the Free State researcher is contributing to the fight against plastic pollution through her research into biodegradable polymers – large, chain-like molecules – as a more environmentally friendly alternative to petroleum-based plastics. Her work will be music to the ears of environmental groups who want governments worldwide to sign a global plastic pollution treaty in November.
