The Competition Commission’s Economic Research Bureau has found that while the price of canned pilchards has most certainly increased, its analysis shows that canned pilchard producers have absorbed some of the cost increases that they have experienced. This is according to a June 2024 report on the investigation into recent pricing developments in foods.
