Commercial Squid Fishery is Not “Entitled”

The Vision Fishing Primary Cooperative and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment have told the Western Cape High Court that the South African Squid Industry Management Association (SASMIA) representing its members is not “entitled” to retain a monopoly on the global chokka squid (Loligo reynaudii) resource allocation. This is an interesting twist that other Commercial fishing sectors might want to pay attention to.
