Why Is there No Snoek?

Traditionally, it is the time of year when the Snoek run, but this year it is a bit different. Word on the ground is that there is no Snoek to be had, and any Snoek there might be will fetch very high prices. The question is why?

Cape Snoek is a tradition in many Western Cape homes over the Easter period, often seen as a low-value fish. But this year Western Cape fishers are currently struggling to find it and there is every likelihood that the price of a single fish might fetch up to R300 depending on where it is caught. It might also still be a bit early as the Snoek are known to run between April and July each year.
