An interesting story is that of thermal coal producer and exporter, Thungela, which is undertaking to restore aquatic life in the Wilge-Olifants River catchment. This came about following the uncontrolled release of mine-impacted water from Khwezela Colliery’s Kromdraai site two years ago. To do this Thungela recently commissioned an innovative fish breeding facility at the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve in Mpumalanga.
