Good news for the Small Pelagic: Anchovy and Sardine sectors is that the Minister has finally decided on the appeals in terms of the fishing right allocation process 2020/2021 (FRAP 2021). Grant of right letters will only be available online in the New Year. There is however significant legal criticism of the process.

The Minister of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Barbara Creecy, has announced her decisions on the appeals in the small pelagic sardine and anchovy sectors. This process has been in the works since July 2022 and consisted of 230 appeals in the anchovy sector and 169 appeals in the sardine sector across the different categories in each sector.
