South Africa’s fisheries have been granted another extension by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to ensure they comply with the USA’s new legislation relating to marine mammals.
The South African Deep-Sea Trawling Industry Association (SADSTIA) says that it has received notice from NOAA that an additional two years are required for it to assess all the fisheries and that the provisions will now only kick in at the end of 2025.
