Plans for New Port at Boegoebaai Starting to Take Shape

Planned development for the new deep water port at Boegoebaai. It is a greenfield site owned by the people of the Richtersveld through the Community Property Association (CPA).

Transnet National Ports Authority has confirmed its intention to design, fund and construct a new port at Boegoebaai in the Northern Cape. This development is in line with its plans to grow the manganese export market as well as support South Africa’s drive to integrate hydrogen into its energy portfolio. Small-scale fishers have reason to be concerned.
