South Africa’s electricity generation crisis has its government grasping for straws since it was forced to scrap the electricity State of Disaster in early April. First it was reported that Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd would consider buying electricity from a Karpowership plant located offshore Mozambique. Then we have recently heard that Karpowership has been granted another opportunity to refile its application to moor one of its ships in Richards Bay. A complaint by an NGO against Karpowership mooring a second ship off Saldanha Bay has also been dismissed by the government which says it will willing review the company’s proposal.
