In August 2019 Angola’s formally ratified a Multilateral Search and Rescue Agreement with South Africa. This brought into fruition a 12 years old effort to establish formal cooperation on sea search and rescue operations in Southern Africa among six countries considered vital to the success of the operations in the sub region.
The latest developments in satellite technology for the enhancment of maritime safety globally as well as in the southern hemisphere, will come under the spotlight during a virtual meeting next week hosted by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) on behalf of the Department of Transport.
