Desperate days in Cape Town when residents were forced to queue for water.

Tuesday, 22 March, is World Water Day and this year the focus is on groundwater. It’s underfoot, unseen, useful, and often regarded as a limitless resource, providing a critical service in many parts of South Africa, especially during times of drought. Currently about 320 towns across the country also depend on groundwater as a sole source of supply in conjunction with surface water.
