Today the Namibia’s National Petroleum Corporation has confirmed a second major light oil and associated gas discovery on the Venus-iX prospect, located in block 2913B (PEL56) in the Orange Basin, offshore southern Namibia. This will not go down well with South Africa’s civil rights activists and west coast fishing communities who are back in court to argue Australia’s Searcher Seismic appeal against the interim interdict preventing its seismic survey programme. Is Namibia trading its marine environment?
