Safety on the water, whether it is a river, dam, lake or ocean, should never be taken for granted. Ahead of the launch today of South Africa’s inland waters strategy by the Minister of Transport, Mr Fikile Mbalula, at the Vaal Dam in southern Gauteng province, the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) has been stepping up train-the-trainer training. This is with a view to ensuring better communication to small craft users so that they are properly able to manage their vessels, and also understand the law.
