African Penguin (Spheniscus demersus) populations have been receiving a fair amount of press lately. This week the fishing industry and conservationists will debate the best course of action to protect the endangered species from further demise, while balancing the interests of the small pelagic fishing sector.
Refereeing is the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Barbara Creecy, who has informed all stakeholders that she will be “finalising the modalities of the interventions around the colonies in consultation with affected stakeholders” this week.
