UPDATE. Drone Fishing Conversation Leads to Call for Regulation Over Any Kind of Ban

Social media is a powerful platform for communication, and this was put to the test recently when a letter from the South African Shore Angling Association (SASAA) was posted online opposing the use of drones to fish. In fact, SASAA says if it is not possible to ban the sport in most places, then it wants regulations to be put in place.

The letter was in response to a recently published paper “The emergence of marine recreational drone fishing: Regional trends and emerging concerns”, which highlights the pros and cons of using drones to fish from a science and research perspective. In particular, the effects on many already heavily pressured species.
