Did you know there's an African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary at Gansbaai? It provides rehabilitative care to diseased, displaced, injured, oiled and abandoned marine birds. It is funded by the Dyer Island Conservation Trust.
Re-establishing a penguin colony is not for the faint-hearted, but the concerted efforts of conservationists has paid off with the release last week of 30 juvenile African Penguins at De Hoop Nature Reserve.
