The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on seafarers generally as it has meant long periods at sea, not being able to leave their vessels and reduced work options.
Due to lockdowns, many seafarers have found themselves stranded at ports around the world, often alone and vulnerable. This has heightened their sense of feeling invisible to authorities grappling with the wider issues presented by the pandemic.
