Armchair Fishermen and the Ethics of Using Drones

The ethical debate of using drones to fish has popped up again. This has in the last few years become an increasingly divisive issue among fishermen.

The advent of GPS and fish finders took fishing to a new level. Now remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) or drones open a whole new opportunity to cast further and make that catch of a lifetime.

It even enables those with absolutely no fishing skills to be armchair fishermen.

This growing facet of angling that has improved the fisherman’s success significantly but it has also exposed new areas to fishing such as the backline of the surf zone.
