It Begins. FRAP 2020 / 21

On 26 June 2020, the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Barbara Creecy, published a Notice in the Government Gazette headed “Commencement of the 2020/21 Fishing Rights Application Process (FRAP 2020/21) for the granting of  Commercial Fishing Rights in terms of Section 18 of the Marine Living Resources Act, 1998 (Act No. 18 of 1998) (MLRA)”.

The commercial fishing sectors up for allocation in FRAP 2020/21 are hake deep-sea trawl, small pelagics (sardine and anchovies), squid, tuna pole, hake longline, south coast rock lobster, demersal shark, KZN prawn trawl, linefish, hake handline, oysters and white mussel.
