Durban’s uShaka Pier Extension Plans Questioned

A project raising the ire of some Durban residents is the eThekwini Municipality’s plans to extend uShaka Pier. Amongst other things, it wants to provide an extra 70 well points to pump water to uShaka Marine World.

The City’s plan also includes upgrading the pier to be more “aesthetically pleasing” for tourists. This includes, amongst other things, a new oval-shaped double-decker pier. This the City says, features a “rare design that is expected to attract people from around the country”.
