If we are to learn anything from the COVID-19 pandemic it is that the traditional way of working must change. Science and scientists might be having their moments in the spotlight, but they are heavily reliant on funding. Funders need to also adapt to a new world.
Sir Peter Gluckman, President Elect of the International Science Council, says the science system is old fashioned.
This was during a virtual meeting which took the place of the Global Forum of Funders meeting originally planned for Durban.
Gluckman was presenting his keynote address on the topic “The Role of Science and Science Funders in the time of the COVID-19 crisis”.
