Whale Super Groups. Look but Don’t Get Too Close

For the average sightseer, whale super groups are an unusual sight. So the latest reports that large pods are feeding off the west coast of South Africa, has generated much excitement.

A super-group is defined as a group of 20 or more tightly-spaced individual humpback whales. Each estimated to be within five body lengths of their nearest neighbour.
