Small-scale. Happy Eastern Cape Fishers Get Rights

Some Eastern Cape’s small-scale fishing co-operatives have received their long-awaited 15-year small-scale fishing rights.

This week, the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Barbara Creecy, presented certificates to 20 small-scale fishing co-operatives representing 1591 members in total.

The presentations were made at the Lilian Ngoyi Community Sports Centre, Kwazakele, Port Elizabeth. They also marked the commencement of presenting fishing rights to the remainder of 53 co-operatives in the Eastern Cape.
