Jobs Crisis. Operation Phakisa Fails to Deliver

South Africa’s blue oceans economy which includes the development of the aquaculture industry, is struggling to create the jobs promised under Operation Phakisa.

The maritime sector is in a critical state of meltdown. It does not have the manpower with the skills to match the demand, there are very few ships to place cadets on, and graduates are not being properly prepared to be functional adults in the workplace.
