Renegotiating Ematum debt securities issued on the international market seems to be uppermost in the minds of Mozambican government officials. However, there is opinion that they should rather wait for the court rulings.

Unravelling the corruption trail in respect of the Mozambique hidden debt case has been gathering momentum since Credit Suisse’s former bankers pleaded guilty to US courts.

It has also been reported that Mozambique has charged the former president’s son and 19 others with corruption, fraud and blackmail.
