Southern Rights. A Whale of a Time in Hermanus

The annual Hermanus Whale Festival is an annual event celebrating the return of the southern right whales to the coastal waters of southern Africa from their icy feeding grounds off Antarctica. Usually present from June to early December, the southern right whales return to the bay of Hermanus where they calve and rear their young in safety. This is an opportunity for whale watchers to enjoy the spectacular displays of raw power and water acrobatics just off the shore.
