
A court ruling that the Heinaste stern trawler owned by a Namibian joint venture company may be sold, has been thwarted. This following an application for an urgent interdict by the Namibian minority partners to prevent its sale.
On 31 July, a High Court ruled that Esja Holdings – part of Icelandic firm Samherji’s assets in Namibia – could sell the vessel. However, the new application requires that Esja Holdings now justify to the court why this should be the case.
