Future Hake Rights. Economic Study Findings Announced

The hake deep sea trawling industry is concerned that the net could be spread a bit wider to include new entrants in 12 sectors. Now a socio-economic study has been completed which outlines how disastrous this could be for the commercial fishing industry.

Economics consultancy, Genesis Analytics, was commissioned by the South African Deep-Sea Trawling Industry Association (SADSTIA) last year to quantify the socio-economic contribution of the hake deep sea trawl fishery.
