The roll-out of a training programme to teach fishing communities about how to run a cooperative, is progressing well. This is according to the South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries which has eight teams in the field to deliver this mandate.
This is a requirement of the new Small-scale Fisheries Policy which the Department is in the process of implementing.
