Each year the Namibian Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources addresses the fishing industry at the Walvis Bay Town Hall. Following this is a response from the Chairman of the Confederation of Namibian Fishing Associations. Uppermost on the minds of fishing bosses is the reallocation of rights across all sub-sectors of Namibia’s marine fisheries.

Honourable Minister Bernhard Esau introduced his presentation, saying that His Excellency, the President of Namibia, Dr. Hage Geingob, has declared “2018, the Year of Reckoning”.

The Namibian economy has been suffering of late. This has resulted in reduced tax revenues, necessitating the need for greater efficiencies. This applies to the private sector, government ministries and state-owned enterprises.
