Water-savvy fishing companies are using innovation to cut back on water consumption in the parched Western Cape where widespread drought has many in a panic. Fishing Industry News Southern Africa spoke to three fishing industry stalwarts about their water survival strategy.

Helen Zille and her colleagues in provincial government would be well advised to keep a close eye on the likes of Pioneer, Sea Harvest and Oceana, three major employers taking proactive steps to ensure production remains relatively unaffected by stringent water restrictions.

A combination of workplace interventions and clever planning is helping these companies beat the water blues, making them more resilient to expected long-term climate change.
