National Fishing Corporation of Namibia (Fishcor), a public-owned enterprise, is investing about N$530 million in an onshore processing factory in Walvis Bay. This will process horse mackerel into value added frozen products.
Mike Nghipunya, CEO of Fishcor, says the new factory, predicted to employ 700 people, will be called Seaflower Pelagic Processing (Pty) Ltd. He says the roof will be up by November, and hopes factory construction will be completed by the end of 2018.
