Going Green. Wind Power to Keep Aquaculture Plant Sustainable

Viking Fishing is installing two 650 kW wind turbines to help power its massive Buffeljags abalone farm.

The 1.3 megawatt capacity will help Viking cover the cost of pumping 2000 tons of water per hour through its 1200 tanks, which accommodate about nine million animals. The turbines will be connected to the Eskom grid, thereby helping to stabilise the local supply and setting a new benchmark in sustainable fishing.
